Over the past six years, TBC has been sending teams to Santa Cruz Del Quiche, Guatemala. We have partnered with an orphanage in Santa Cruz and two local churches in the area. Our mission team not only works with the children’s home, Casa De Mi Padre (My Father’s House), but also ministers to various villages in the surrounding area by providing a dental clinic, an optical clinic (new last year), and a VBS for the children in the afternoons. We work in areas that have been handpicked by the pastors of the churches we partner with so that we help them make a connection in these areas, knowing that they can continue to reach out to the people long after we have returned home. This year we will be departing April 6 and return April 13.
Guatemala is ecologically beautiful, but poverty is rampant. Illiteracy, infant mortality, and malnutrition are among the highest in the region, while life expectancy is the lowest. Our purpose in going is not only to help meet the physical needs of people in Santa Cruz but also to meet spiritual needs by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is our hope that we can reach people for Christ and make a positive impact in the poverty-stricken areas of Guatemala. We also go in support of the invaluable ministry of Casa Da Mi Padre as they strive to provide refuge and shelter for needy children in Guatemala.
Please be in prayer for our team and for the various ministry opportunities that we will have in Santa Cruz Del Quiche. Pray for the spiritual wisdom and loving service of the team, that the team will be abundantly wise and discerning as well as filled with love for those whom they will serve and share with. Pray for the strength and growth of the partner churches and orphanage that we will work closely with this week that they will have success in fulfilling God’s disciple-making mission in their context.
