“For to those who are perishing the message of the cross is foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is God’s power… Instead, God has chosen the world’s foolish things to shame the wise, and God has chosen the world’s weak things to shame the strong. God has chosen the world’s insignificant and despised things- the things viewed as nothing- so He might bring to nothing the things that are viewed as something, so that no one can boast in His presence… In order that, as it is written: The one who boasts must boast in the Lord.” (1st Corinthians 1:18, 27-29, 31)

DON’T FORGET WEDNESDAY REHEARSAL AT 6:00 PM

MUSIC FOR MARCH 18, 2007

The above scripture passage is probably my favorite passage, because it illustrates perfectly how God doesn’t do things in a way that we would consider normal. He uses the unexpected to reveal his power, and even more surprising he uses you and me to help demonstrate his power. Every week when we sing I think of how he uses us, a rag tag group of people with different back grounds, strengths and weaknesses, and pulls us together to make something that brings glory to his name. You sang with great conviction this past week, thank you for your effort. This week the choir will be singing the song “Purified” in both services. Please be in the Choir room by 8:00 am for the early service, and again at 10:30 for the second service. Please know that your effort is much appreciated and that you are not taken for granted.

Nancy Logan will sing the Vocal Praise in both services

Mable Brown will play the piano and Kathy Perry will play the keyboard during the 8:15 Worship Hour.

Kathy Perry will play the piano and Jean Lueken will play the keyboard during the 10:45 Worship Hour.

The Praise Team will sing during the 10:45 worship hour. The singers will be: Sharon Doyle, Nancy Logan, Kathy and Bradley Perry.

Choir rehearsal will be at 5:30 pm.

Praise Team rehearsal will be at 7:00 pm. The Singers who need to attend will be Linda Magruder, Christy Jones, Don Smith and Bradley Perry.

We will have Choir rehearsal again on Wednesday at 6:00 pm.

WHATEVER IT TAKES BENEFIT CONCERT

The whatever it takes benefit concert will be on Saturday, March 24. This event is hosted by Glen Carter’s group “Final Authority” and the proceeds go to help students in the Sullivan, Spring Bluff, and Strain/Japan school districts. We will be participating in the Choir during this event. You will need to be at the Sullivan Performing Arts Theater at 4:00 pm for the rehearsal. This is a great opportunity to get out into the community, and minister to Children in need in our area using the gifts that God has given us. Please don’t miss this opportunity. I promise it will be time well spent, you will enjoy making good music as well as hearing it, while at the same time reaching out with God’s love. Even if you are taking a break or are inactive you can and should participate in this event. As well as the combined choir from local churches you will hear the Palmer Family, The New Horizons as well as Glen Carter’s group Final Authority. As well as our own Ladies Trio, and this great soloist Evan Aldridge (HA!HA!).
