Luther: Joseph Fiennes plays the title role in this biopic about Martin Luther (1483-1546), the German leader of the Reformation. The movie covers highlights from Luther’s life, including his time as an Augustinian monk, his trip to Rome where he is shocked by the selling of indulgences, his posting of the 95 theses on a church door, and the violence spurred by his actions. I rented this movie not to long ago and watched it with some friends. While it may look like another one of those “poorly made” Christian movies, I actually thought this one was done very well. I enjoyed the movie and the reinactment of the life of one of the great reformers! |
