THIS WEEKS MUSIC NEWS, OCTOBER 10, 2006
“For His divine power has given us everything required for life and Godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. By these He has given us very great and precious promises, so that through them you may share in the divine nature, escaping the corruption that is in the world because of evil desires.” (2nd Peter 1:3-4)
MUSIC FOR OCTOBER 15, 2006
You just keep getting better and better, Sundays Music was Fantastic, thank you for using your talents for the Lord. I also want to remind you the reason we do what we do is to bring honor and Glory to God. We don’t do it because we like music, or like to sing, or because you like the Music man etc…. All of those things help to make it more enjoyable, but the sole purpose we sing is to honor God, to help His people to worship Him, to Worship Him ourselves. We want to follow God not the music, not a leader etc… When we put our focus on the one who saved us, then everything else will fall into place. All of that to say: Keep your focus, no matter what happens in life, in church, in choir, no matter what kind of music we sing, who the leader is or what he may do or not do etc… When we look at everything in the light of heaven, everything else seems trivial and not near as important as the one we are serving.
This week the choir will be proclaiming that God is the God of all when we sing the song “God of All” in both services. Again I really appreciate all of you who sing in both services, so if you can, please do so. Please be in the Choir room by 8:00 am for the early service and by 10:30 pm for the second service.
Glen Carter will sing the Vocal Praise in both services
Jean Lueken will play the piano and Pam Hagan will play the keyboard in the 8:15 service.
Kathy Perry will play the piano and Virgie McGill will play the keyboard in the 10:45 service
The Praise Team will sing in the 10:45 service, and the singers will be Kalyn Center, Evette Eickelmann, Sharon Doyle, and Kathy Perry.
Choir Practice will be at 6:00 pm
Praise Team rehearsal will be at 7:00 pm. The Praise Team singers that need to attend the rehearsal this week are Sharon Doyle, Nancy Logan, Don Smith, and Bradley Perry.
HOMEWORK
Your homework for this week is to listen and learn “The Name Lives On” and the Finale, numbers 9 and 10 on your rehearsal CD’s.
ASSOCIATIONAL MISSIONS RALLY
We will begin working on the music for the assocaitional missions rally this Sunday, October 15. The Missons Rally is here in Sullivan at the Performing Arts Theatre on Sunday evening November 5 at 6:00. We will be joining together with other singers and choirs from churches within Franklin County Bapist Association to form one big Choir. The program will replace our rehearsal that evening. I will be leading the music and directing the Choir. Kathy Perry will be playing the piano, and Bradley Perry will be representing our church in the Associational Wide Praise Team. Jerry Rankin, President of the I.M.B. (International Missions Board) will bring the message that evening. This is the same event that we had here in our church last year.
“For we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, we must work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith.” (Galations 6:9-10)
